Everyone: HaroPuro123!! Yaaay!
(intro: “Hello! no Theme”)
Yaguchi: Good evening to all the listeners of FM Osaka pop up inc.! I’m Morning Musume’s Yaguchi Mari!
Takahashi: I’m Takahashi Ai!
Kamei: I’m Kamei Eri.
Yaguchi: Yes. This week’s “HaroPuro123″ will be presented by the three of us!
Taka/Kame: Yes!
Yaguchi: Now… Today evening we’ll introduce mails that were sent to this corner by the listeners again.
Taka/Kame: Yes!
Kamei: Yes.
Yaguchi: Then let’s start with Kamei-chan.
Kamei: Yes! This is from “Yuna”-chan in Tarumi-ku, Koube-shi, a girl in first year of middle school.
Yaguchi: Yes.
Kamei: “I got my first MD-player for my birthday a few days ago. I’m so happy that I listen to music even if I go shopping for a little while. What do the Morning Musume members do when driving from one place to another? What kind of music have you been listening to lately?
Yaguchi: Hmm… We all do that, right?
Kamei: We listen to music when we’re in the car, right?
Yaguchi: Yeah, we all listen to music.
Takahashi: Yeah.
Yaguchi: When we get into the car, we all put on earphones.
Takahashi: We all do that. (lol)
Yaguchi: I’m like “Already?!”. (lol)
Takahashi: Even if the manager says something to us, we don’t hear it.
Yaguchi: We don’t.
Kamei: We don’t hear it.
Yaguchi: Even if someone talks to us, we’re all listening to music.
Takahashi: Haha(lol)
Kamei: And we all listen to music at a high volume.
Yaguchi: High volume… (lol) Right, right, right.
Takahashi: You can hear it all through the earphones. (lol)
Yaguchi: Yeah. Lately when we’re on our way from one place to another… well, we listen to music, but…
Takahashi: Yes.
Yaguchi: Do you do something else than listening to music?
Takahashi: I sometimes read a book and get nauseous.
Yaguchi: Ahhh… That’s right. Books, huh…? I play games.
Takahashi: Don’t you feel nauseous then?!
Yaguchi: Eh? I don’t.
Takahashi: I bet you do!
Yaguchi: When we’re in a bullet train for a long time for example.
Takahashi: Ah… You’re right.
Yaguchi: Sometimes so long that I can beat a game in that time.
Takahashi: Yeah, we ride bullet trains all the time. (lol)
Yaguchi: Yeah. What about you, Kamei-chan?
Kamei: I sleep almost all the time. (lol)
Yaguchi: Right. I think you really are sleeping all the time.
Kamei: I don’t listen to music very often. Well, I do, but lately I haven’t. I usually sleep while listening to the music I can hear through the earphones of Aichan and Yaguchi-san.
Yaguchi: Hahaha(lol)
Kamei: And I think “Don’t your ears hurt when you listen to music at such a high volume?”.
Yaguchi: Ahh…
Takahashi: Is it that high?
Kamei: Aichan’s is extremely high.
Takahashi: It’s because I…
Yaguchi: Isn’t mine rather low?
Kamei: (lol) Yaguchi-san’s…
Yaguchi: You can hear it through the earphones?
Kamei: Yeah.
Yaguchi: Really?
Takahashi: It’s because I listen to Takarazuka… (lol)
Kamei: Ah, I see…
Yaguchi: Ah! I see.
Takahashi: (lol)
Kamei: That’s why I never recognize it.
Takahashi: You should be able to recognize it!
Kamei: No way…
Takahashi: You should! I always think “No, this isn’t good.” and lower the volume.
Yaguchi. I don’t listen to recent singles, but… often to songs that were hits when I was in middle school. (lol)
Takahashi: Ah, I do that too!
Kamei: Ahh… Nostalgic songs…
Yaguchi: You do?
Takahashi: I listen to Yamaguchi Momoe-san’s songs for example.
Yaguchi: What? Were they hits when you were in middle school?
Takahashi: Haha(lol) Yamaguchi…
Yaguchi: They’re all wonderful songs though.
Takahashi: They’re hits… for me…
Yaguchi: Ahh.. Aichan is very mature after all.
Kamei: She’s an adult!
Takahashi: You think so?
Kamei: Yeah.
Yaguchi: Kamei-chan, what kind of music do you listen to?
Kamei: Let’s see… I don’t listen to any difficult songs like English ones, but… songs like Hamasaki-san’s for example.
Yaguchi: Oh!
Kamei: I have quite a few albums of her and listened to them many times. I wonder how many times I listened to them. After buying one of her CDs, it stays in my player all the time.
Yaguchi: Ah! So you keep listening to the same CD all the time?
Kamei: That’s right, that’s right.
Yaguchi: Hee~ I see…
Kamei: I listen to her songs all the time.
Takahashi: I see…
Yaguchi: I wonder if we could answer Yuna-chan’s question.
Kamei: I wonder…
Yaguchi: Please listen to Morning Musume’s songs on your MD player too!
Kamei: Please do that!
Takahashi: Please!
Yaguchi: Then the next one. Aichan.
Takahashi: Yes. Here I go!
Yaguchi: Ok.
Takahashi: This is from “Murasaki Odebu”-chan in Nishinomiya-shi, a girl in second year of high school.
Kamei: Yes.
Takahashi: “I’ve never worn pink clothes before, but since it’s fall/winter now I thought I’d try it out once. However, it might sound strange coming from me, but I’m a bit chubby. I want to lose 3 kg! Do you know an easy and good method?
Yaguchi: Ohh… Diet.
Kamei: She wants to go on a diet… How admirable.
Yaguchi: Girls and diets go together, right?
Takahashi: Right. That’s what girls always worry about.
Yaguchi: You feel better when you do it.
Everyone: Hmm…
Yaguchi: Do you know any good diet methods?
Kamei: I’d say “No snacks between the meals”. You should still have three meals a day, but snacks like sweets inbetween… You should be able to control yourself if you try hard.
Yaguchi: That’s right, but somehow that doesn’t have any persuasive power…
Kamei: Ehehe(lol)
Yaguchi: Since we all had cream puffs a while ago.
Kamei: Ufufu(lol)
Takahashi: Ahahaha(lol)
Kamei: We did, huh?
Takahashi: We really can’t give you much advice about that…
Yaguchi: That’s right.
Kamei: We can’t.
Yaguchi: Because we eat a great deal.
Takahashi: We directly eat what we feel like eating.
Kamei: Right.
Yaguchi: But we work up a lot of sweat in concerts and stuff.
Takahashi: That’s right.
Kamei: It’d be good if you share your food with someone else.
Takahashi: When you try to endure hunger, it only becomes more difficult, so you should try to work out instead.
Yaguchi: Right.
Kamei: You’re right.
Yaguchi: Fall is for sports, so running for example might be good.
Kamei: That’s good!
Yaguchi: Like jogging outside and working up sweat.
Takahashi: Yeah!
Yaguchi: Running for about 20 minutes makes you sweat a lot.
Kamei: Hee~
Takahashi: Ahh…
Kamei: Even in this season?
Yaguchi: Yeah, you still sweat a lot.
Kamei: Heee~ I see.
Yaguchi: But in long sleeves and long trousers… A distance of about 3 km maybe. Well, well, well…
Kamei: Eh, you run?
Yaguchi: Yeah, I do.
Kamei: Amazing!
Takahashi: Awesome!!
Yaguchi: Yeah, but it’s a really good workout.
Kamei: I see…
Yaguchi: It builds up stamina too.
Takahashi: I see. Then…
Yaguchi: Please try jogging…
Kamei: Please try it!
Yaguchi: And try not to have snacks between meals.
Kamei: (lol)
Takahashi: Right.
Yaguchi: That goes for us too.
Kamei: We’ll do our best! (lol)
Yaguchi: We have to do our best to live up to our image.
Takahashi: Yes!
Yaguchi: Now the last one! Here I go!
Takahashi: Please do.
Yaguchi: Eh… This is from “Goro”-kun in Suminoe-ku, a boy in first year of high school.
Takahashi: Yes.
Yaguchi: “Dear Morning Musume members, thanks for working hard in this heat.”
Takahashi: Haha(lol) Thank you very much.
Kamei: (lol) Thank you.
Yaguchi: Thank you very much. “Please try the kazutori game we often play at parties.
Takahashi: Oh…
Kamei: Yes.
Yaguchi: Do you know the kazutori game?
Takahashi: I don’t know it.
Kamei: Me neither.
Yaguchi: Then I’ll explain the rules.
Taka/Kame: Yes!
Yaguchi: Here are the rules. The players decide on a number first and keep subtracting numbers from it one after another until the player who subtracted to 0 first wins.
Taka/Kame: Oh.
Yaguchi: But since it’s no fun if the number gets subtracted to 0 too quickly, the first number you subtract from it should be a single digit one. You can only subtract numbers that are smaller than the double of the number the previous player chose to subtract. For example, if the previous player subtracts 3 from the number, the next member can only choose from… in case of 3, smaller than the double means smaller than 6… so 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1.
Kamei: Yes.
Takahashi: Ohh.
Yaguchi: Well then, since I was born in 83…
Kamei: Yes.
Yaguchi: We should start with 83. That’s what the script says…
Takahashi: Nyahaha(lol)
Yaguchi: Then let’s start with 83. The losers will have to do an impersonation for punishment. (lol)
Kamei: Ohh…
Takahashi: I don’t want to, I don’t want to.
Yaguchi: Oh no, an impersonation… What do I do?
Kamei: My impersonations are bad…
Yaguchi: Then let’s start immediately.
Kamei: Yes.
Takahashi: Who will go first?
Yaguchi: Since we start with 83… Who should go first? Then I’ll start, ok?
Taka/Kame: Yes.
Yaguchi: Then first… 83, right? Then… 8!
Takahashi: 75.
Yaguchi: We’re at 75 now.
Takahashi: So I have to choose a number smaller than 16, huh?
Yaguchi: Yeah.
Takahashi: Umm… 7.
Yaguchi: “7″. (lol) You subtracted 7… 7, yes. We’re at 62.
Takahashi: 68?
Yaguchi: Huh? Ah, pfft.
Takahashi: 68, right?
Yaguchi: We’re at 68. Yes, I’m sorry.
Takahashi: Haha(lol)
Kamei: So I have to choose a number smaller than 14?
Takahashi: Smaller than 14.
Yaguchi: Yes.
Kamei: Umm… Then… 10.
Yaguchi: 10. We were at 68 and you chose 10, right? So…
Kamei: 20.
Yaguchi: Smaller than 20 now?
Takahashi: Yeah.
Yaguchi: Ehhh… What do I choose… Then… 15! 15. We’re at 43.
Takahashi: 43. Ehh…
Yaguchi: A number smaller than 30 now. Ah, we’ve arrived at a good part now.
Kamei: A good part.
Takahashi: 7.
Yaguchi: “7″. (lol) You really like 7, huh?
Takahashi: I like 7.
Yaguchi: You like 7?
Takahashi: Yeah.
Yaguchi: I see. Umm… Ehh…
Takahashi: A number smaller than 14, huh?
Kamei: 14? Then… 12.
Yaguchi: Wait a moment, I can’t follow.
Takahashi: No way! We’re at 24 now.
Yaguchi: Eh… and you chose 1…
Kamei: 12.
Yaguchi: 12. Wait a moment…
Takahashi: She said 12.
Yaguchi: Wait a moment…
Takahashi: Damn it.
Yaguchi: Oh, wai-… Eh, eh… Then 24!
Takahashi: Ahh! It’s not fun like that!
Yaguchi: Yaaay!
Takahashi: It’s not fun like that!!
Yaguchi: Yaay! Yaay!
Takahashi: It’s not fun like that!
Yaguchi: Wait a moment, wait a moment. This is the game and these are the rules.
Kamei: Yeah, the rules, the rules…
Yaguchi: Hoooraaay!!!
Takahashi: Ahh… ahh…
Kamei: Ahhhh…
Yaguchi: Yaaaay!
Takahashi: We should have calculated it beforehand.
Yaguchi: Ahh…
Kamei: You have to use your head… It was difficult.
Takahashi: Really… Kame-chan, you shouldn’t have said 12.
Yaguchi: Hahaha(lol)
Takahashi: Really.
Kamei: (lol) Really…
Yaguchi: I won! That means… Aichan and Kamei-chan have to do impersonations for punishment.
Takahashi: No, no, no, no…
Kamei: But my impersonations are bad…
Takahashi: What should I do?
Yaguchi: Who wants to start? Who feels confident?
Takahashi: Then I’ll go first.
Yaguchi: Oh!
Takahashi: Chiaki Naomi-san.
Yaguchi: Eh? Chiaki Naomi…
Takahashi: Naomi-san.
Yaguchi: Yes. Then let’s start.
Takahashi: Itsumo no you ni maku ga aki♪ Haha(lol)
Yaguchi: Ohhh…
Takahashi: Oh no! It didn’t sound like her!
Yaguchi: It’s so old that we don’t know if you sounded like her or not…
Takahashi: It’s okay.
Yaguchi: Maybe it sounded like her.
Takahashi: Maybe it didn’t.
(applause)
Takahashi: Yes, thanks.
Kamei: It sounded like her! It sounded like her!
Takahashi: Ahaha(lol)
Kamei: That was a real impersonation.
Yaguchi: Yeah!
Takahashi: I even used my hand.
Yaguchi: You did. Haha(lol)
Takahashi: Haha(lol)
Yaguchi: That was good. Then… Kamei-chan. The one you’re the most confident with.
Kamei: The one I’m most confident with, huh?
Yaguchi: Yeah.
Kamei: Umm… Then… the frog from “Spirited away“.
Yaguchi: Frog? Ok…
Kamei: After No Face ate the frog…
Yaguchi: Yes. I think I know what you mean.
Kamei: Here I go.
Yaguchi: Ok.
Kamei: Hey. Chihiro!
Takahashi: Pfft(lol) Why do you do such an impersonation?!
Yaguchi: Pfft(lol) Wait a sec…
Kamei: No, you see… I bet…
Yaguchi: What was that…
Kamei: Hey. Chihiro!” It definitely sounded like him.
Yaguchi: No, it doesn’t.
Kamei: It definitely sounded like him.
Yaguchi: No, it doesn’t.
Takahashi: (lol)
Kamei: It definitely sounded like him.
Yaguchi: Ahahahaha(lol)
Takahashi: We got it, we got it already.
Yaguchi: I see…
Takahashi: (lol) Well then.
Yaguchi: Yes.
Takahashi: We’ve introduced 3 mails today evening.
Yaguchi: Yes!
Takahashi: We apologize to everyone whose mails we couldn’t read out.
Yaguchi: Yes~
Takahashi: Please send us one next time too!
Yaguchi: Please do.
Takahashi: Well then, today evening we’ll play this song by Morning Musume.
Everyone: “Roman ~My Dear Boy~”!
Takahashi: Please listen to it!
Yaguchi: That was all from Yaguchi Mari and…
Takahashi: …Takahashi Ai and…
Kamei: Kamei Eri!
Everyone: Let’s meet again tomorrow!

Taka/Kame: Yes.
Yaguchi: Yeah. Yesterday we talked about Morning Musume’s last year and a half.
Taka/Kame: Yes.
Yaguchi: Today evening we’ll introduce mails that were sent to this corner by the listeners.
Taka/Kame: Yes!
Yaguchi: Then let’s start with Kamei-chan.
Kamei: Yes! This is from “Orange Pink”-san in Takaishi.
Yaguchi: Yeah.
Kamei: “Dear Morning Musume members, thanks for your hard work.”
Yaguchi: Thank you very much.
Kamei: If you could take an one week break from your Morning Musume activities and work part-time in the city, what kind of part-time job would you like to try out? I’m looking forward to your new song.” Thank you very much.
Yaguchi: Thank you!
Takahashi: Thank you very much!
Yaguchi: Ehhhh?
Kamei: A break, huh?
Takahashi: A break…
Yaguchi: If I took a break, I wouldn’t want to work part-time…
Kamei: Ahaha(lol)
Takahashi: Ahaha(lol) I know what you mean.
Kamei: One would want to have fun, right?
Yaguchi: I would want to go on holiday… If it has to be a part-time job, then maybe one you always wanted to do.
Takahashi: I would want to work in an amusement park.
Yaguchi: Ahh, that’s good!
Kamei: Ahhh…
Takahashi: In an amusement park… I wouldn’t want to wear those cartoon character costumes though.
Yaguchi: That’d be tough.
Takahashi: Yeah. I’d want to decide my costume myself and act like a big sister.
Yaguchi: Ahh… I see. That’s nice. What about you, Kamei-chan?
Kamei: Since a long time ago, I’ve liked cash registers.
Yaguchi: Ohhh!
Kamei: I’ve always wanted to work the register in a convenience store…
Yaguchi: Ahh… I see. And pushing the buttons makes this “pii” sound.
Kamei: Yes, like “pii”. And “pii, pii, pii”.
Takahashi: Haha(lol)
Yaguchi: I know what you mean.
Kamei: You do?
Yaguchi: Didn’t you buy a register when you were little? One of those little toy ones.
Kamei: Yeah, I did.
Takahashi: I did!
Kamei: I loved it.
Yaguchi: I wonder why girls love registers.
Kamei: Yeah…
Takahashi: You could really play cashier with it!
Yaguchi: I did, I did!
Kamei: It’s strange…
Yaguchi: And you would like to try it out for real.
Kamei: Yes.
Takahashi: And you, Yaguchi-san?
Yaguchi: I… I’d like to try working part-time in a tailor’s shop.
Takahashi: I think it would suit you!
Kamei: It’ll suit you.
Takahashi: Because you’re good at coordinating and stuff.
Yaguchi: I’d like to try working there alone.
Kamei: Ah… I think you’d be good at it.
Yaguchi: But part-time jobs…
Takahashi: I’ve never worked part-time.
Yaguchi: I’ve never worked part-time either.
Kamei: Me neither, me neither.
Yaguchi: It’d feel strange if we worked part-time…
Takahashi: Haha(lol) You’re right.
Yaguchi: Working part-time would be great. Now, let’s move on… Aichan!
Takahashi: Yes! Here I go.
(”Roman ~My Dear Boy~” playing in the bg)
Yaguchi: Yes.
Takahashi: This is from “Ren’ai Kingyo”-kun in Habikino city, a boy in first year of high school.
Yaguchi: Yes.
Takahashi: “Dear Morning Musume members, will you listen to my problem? The athletic festival is drawing nearer hour by hour. I can’t help feeling down since I’m nonathletic. H!P members have sports festivals too, but aren’t there actually kinds of sports you don’t like? I’m looking forward to the concert in Osaka Jou Hall.”
Kamei: Hihi(lol)
Takahashi: Uh… Sports I don’t like…
Yaguchi: There are ones we don’t like, right?
Takahashi: There are ones of course!
Yaguchi: Haha(lol) What are the sports you’re good at and the ones you’re bad at?
Takahashi: Let’s see… As for me, I’m weak at… 1500m!
Yaguchi: Ah, long distance run!
Kamei: Long distance runs are tough…
Takahashi: Long distance… Last year we had baton race, so…
Yaguchi: “Baton race” (lol)
Takahashi: …this year I really feel like “Please spare me…”.
Yaguchi: Well, well, well…
Takahashi: What I’m good at is…
Yaguchi: Ah, what are you good at?
Takahashi: I like obstacle races!
Yaguchi: Ahh, that’s nice!
Takahashi: Borrowing someone’s stuff… from the audience for example.
Yaguchi: Karimono kyousou?
Takahashi: Do you call it karimono kyousou?
Yaguchi: Yes, yes, yes.
Kamei: That’s fun.
Takahashi: I love that!
Yaguchi: Ahh…
Takahashi: Because you can really have fun.
Yaguchi: It’s nice. Fun, right? What about you, Kamei-chan?
Kamei: Let’s see… I’m bad at ball games.
Yaguchi: Ohh, is that so?
Kamei: I’m really scared of the ball or rather…
Yaguchi: So something like dodgeball is unbearably scary for you?
Kamei: I make a big fuss then.
Takahashi: I see…
Kamei: I’d be running away from the ball like crazy and bother the others.
Yaguchi: Ahh, I see. You’re bad at ball games.
Kamei: I’m bad at them…
Yaguchi: What are you good at?
Kamei: I’m good at short distance runs.
Yaguchi: Ah, you’re fast, right?
Takahashi: Ah, you’re fast.
Kamei: I really love short distance runs.
Yaguchi: Hee~ I envy you.
Kamei: But when there’s a fast person next to me, I feel so excited.
Takahashi: I know what you mean.
Kamei: That’s why I’ve always been very happy about short distance runs.
Yaguchi: Ahhh… Foot races, huh?
Kamei: I like foot races.
Yaguchi: Foot races are the ones I’m weakest at. I’m good at… well, I like the games everyone can enjoy for example… tamaire. Or tug of war.
Takahashi: Ahh…
Kamei: They’re nice.
Yaguchi: I’m sure you feel down, but…
Takahashi: Right…
Yaguchi: But please do your best!
Takahashi: Yes, please do your best!
Yaguchi: Then I’ll read out the last one, ok?
Takahashi: Yes, please.
Yaguchi: Ehh… This is from “Ebi mayonnaise”-chan in Asahi-ku, a girl in second year of high school. “Dear Morning Musume members, how do you do?”
Takahashi: I’m fine!
Kamei: I’m fine!
Yaguchi: We’re fine. “We’re planning to go on a ski field trip in winter, but I don’t want others to see me when I’m sleeping and I don’t like bathing together with others either unless it’s my family. I’m sure Morning Musume often stay at a hotel on their tours, but doesn’t any one of you have a bad sleeping posture? Do you all take a bath together? Byeguu!” she wrote.
Takahashi: Haha(lol)
Kamei: Byeguu!
Takahashi: Ahh… Sleeping postures…
Yaguchi: We bath together, right?
Kamei: We never bath together.
Takahashi: We wouldn’t do that!
Yaguchi: No way! We never did?
Takahashi: We would never do that!
Yaguchi: Earlier… we all used to bath together.
Takahashi: No way!
Yaguchi: Way.
Takahashi: Well, if it’s in a hot springs…
Yaguchi: Yeah. We never bathed together in a small bathroom, you know?
Takahashi: I guess, huh? That’s what I imagined when you said you did.
Yaguchi: Haha(lol) That’d be impossible!
Takahashi: I was wondering “How did they fit in there?”… (lol)
Yaguchi: We couldn’t! Only two people fit in there!
Takahashi: Haha(lol) You’re right…
Yaguchi: The member who has the worst sleeping posture is… Konkon!
Takahashi: Ahh! But it’s not really her sleeping posture, but…
Yaguchi: Her sleeping face!
Kamei: Her sleeping face!
Takahashi: Yeah, Kon-chan’s sleeping face!
Yaguchi: It’s bad, really bad.
Kamei: Kon-chan looks… funny when she’s sleeping.
Takahashi: (lol) I think you shouldn’t laugh at it, but you just can’t help laughing.
Kamei: Right.
Yaguchi: I think she should avoid sleeping out if possible.
Takahashi: You’re right. (lol)
Yaguchi: Hehe(lol) Konkon… Kamei-chan, when you see such a sleeping face of your senpai… you don’t know what to do, right?
Kamei: Haha(lol) It surprised me!
Yaguchi: Yeah.
Kamei: But I remember that Sayu was next to Kon-chan at that time.
Yaguchi: She was sleeping?
Kamei: She was sleeping next to her. And Kon-chan looked bad at that time too. Sayu was lying on her side too. They both looked…
Yaguchi: Oh! They both looked bad? (lol)
Takahashi: I didn’t know that!
Kamei: Double…
Yaguchi: Well… Morning Musume’s sleeping faces are ugly.
Kamei: (lol)
Takahashi: It’s perfectly fine. You don’t have to worry about that.
Yaguchi: Right, right! It’s absolutely OK.
Kamei: Right, right, right.
Yaguchi: Our families get to see all of those bad sides. (lol)
Takahashi: Yeah!
Kamei: It’s going to be alright.
Yaguchi: Please have a fun field trip without worrying about that.
Taka/Kame: Yes!
Kamei: Now that we’ve all introduced three mails… and since we’ve talked about sports today, I think this song might be fitting.
Yaguchi: Yes.
Kamei: Morning Musume’s…
Everyone: “Go Girl ~Koi no Victory~”!
Yaguchi: That was all from Yaguchi Mari and…
Takahashi: …Takahashi Ai and…
Kamei: Kamei Eri!
Everyone: Let’s meet again tomorrow!

Yaguchi: We’ll be in your care!
Taka/Kame: We’ll be in your care!
Yaguchi: We have a live concert in Osaka Jou Hall planned at the end of this month and we’ll all come to Osaka for that, but we might not have the time to visit FM Osaka because we’ll be busy with the preparations for the live concert. That’s why the three of us are here to greet you and ask you for your support after October too. Right?
Takahashi: Yes~!
Kamei: Yes.
Yaguchi: What about you, Aichan?
Takahashi: Let’s see…
Yaguchi: Is this your second time here?
Takahashi: When we released “Roman ~My Dear Boy~”, I was here in Osaka with Ishikawa-san and Fujimoto-san.
Yaguchi: Oh, how was it at that time?
Takahashi: Let’s see… Somehow… That day passed in the blink of an eye.
Yaguchi: Ohhh… I see.
Takahashi: Yes. It was fun.
Yaguchi: Hee~. It was fun even with only tsukkomi by your side?
Takahashi: Yes. Though I got picked on a lot.
Yaguchi: Haha(lol) Really?
Takahashi: (lol) Yes…
Yaguchi: I see… And this is Kamei-chan’s first appearance here.
Kamei: Yes. First time.
Yaguchi: Yeah, I’ll be in your care.
Kamei: Same here.
Yaguchi: That’s right… How do you feel at your first appearance in HaroPuro123?
Kamei: Somehow I’m happy.
Yaguchi: Happy, right?
Kamei: Since it’s the first time, it makes me happy.
Yaguchi: Haha(lol) You’re right. Let’s do our best.
Taka/Kame: Yes!
Yaguchi: In this show “HaroPuro123″, you get to hear the latest news about H!P, new H!P songs and corners suggested by the H!P members themselves. It’s been already one year and a half since this show started.
Takahashi: Ohh!
Yaguchi: And of course when one year and a half has passes, the situation changes a lot too.
Kamei: Yes.
Yaguchi: Members leave and members join, right?
Takahashi: Right~.
Yaguchi: That’s why today evening, the three of us want to review Morning Musume’s last one year and a half. Even though one year and a half is a kinda incomplete time span.
Takahashi: (lol) Yes.
Yaguchi: Let’s give our feedback by talking about what was good and what should be reconsidered in our new tour.
Takahashi: Yes!
Yaguchi: Yes, well then… What happened in the last one year and a half?
Takahashi: Let’s see… Yasuda-san’s graduation…
Yaguchi: That’s right. Kei-chan’s graduation and…
Takahashi: Also the 6th gen. members…
Yaguchi: Right. Kamei-chan, Tanaka-chan and…
Kamei: Shige-san.
Yaguchi: …Shige-san joined Morning Musume.
Kamei: Yes.
Yaguchi: Mikitty too. Joined as a 6th gen. member.
Kamei: The four of us.
Yaguchi: Yeah. You and Kei-chan kinda missed each other, right?
Kamei: Yes. We couldn’t get to know her well, because we joined when she was about to graduate.
Yaguchi: That’s right… But you stood on the stage together with her, right?
Kamei: Yes.
Yaguchi: How nostalgic…
Kamei: Nostalgic~.
Takahashi: Yeah!
Yaguchi: That was a moving concert…
Takahashi: It’s already been one year and a half, huh?
Yaguchi: So quickly!
Takahashi: So quickly…
Yaguchi: Yeah… Somehow…
Kamei: So quickly…
Yaguchi: It’s sad, but you have to do your best again.
Kamei: Yes.
Yaguchi: Aichan, how did you feel one year and a half ago?
Takahashi: I was a child at that time.
Yaguchi: You were 1…
Takahashi: 16… 16?
Yaguchi: 16?
Takahashi: 16, huh?
Yaguchi: Yeah.
Takahashi: I was so young!
Yaguchi: Yeah, when you look back at one year and a half ago, you were only 16!
Takahashi: You’re right… Now I’ve just become 18.
Yaguchi: Right. How did you feel? The 16-year-old Takahashi Ai.
Takahashi: Let’s see… What I remember the most after all is…
Yaguchi: Yeah?
Takahashi: …when Yaguchi-san scolded me during the pv shoot.
Yaguchi: Eh, what?
Takahashi: During the pv shoot of “AS FOR ONE DAY”, I couldn’t do the choreography right. We had dance lessons until the day of the shoot, right?
Yaguchi: Right, right.
Takahashi: And during the part where I dance together with Abe-san, I messed up quite a few times. Somehow… I couldn’t do it even though I knew how to. And I remember I got scolded for it.
Yaguchi: Really?!
Takahashi: Yeah.
Yaguchi: I’ve totally forgotten about it.
Takahashi: (lol) No way!
Yaguchi: Haha(lol)
Takahashi: At that time I thought that I’m still not good enough.
Yaguchi: At times like that, you’re so nervous that when you mess up once, you keep on messing up until the end.
Takahashi: Yeah…
Yaguchi: And people can’t recover from something like that unless something happens.
Takahashi: Thanks to that, I feel like I’ve grown a bit.
Yaguchi: Ah, really?
Takahashi: Thank you very much.
Yaguchi: I really can’t remember it at all… (lol)
Kamei: Haha(lol)
Yaguchi: I’m beaten.
Takahashi: Haha(lol)
Yaguchi: But it sure is nostalgic…
Takahashi: Yeah, very nostalgic…
Yaguchi: Yeah. Well, we’ve just talked about Morning Musume’s last year and a half.
Takahashi: Yes!
Yaguchi: Time sure passes quickly, huh?
Takahashi: So quickly!
Kamei: That’s true.
Yaguchi: Thanks to what Aichan said, I’ve realized that it really passes in the blink of an eye.
Takahashi: Ehehe(lol)
Everyone: Yeah…
Takahashi: Then finally, we want to play one of Morning Musume’s songs.
Yaguchi: Yes.
Takahashi: In Spring 2003, when “HaroPuro123″ started, we were singing this song. Morning Musume’s…
Everyone: “AS FOR ONE DAY”!
Yaguchi: That was all from Yaguchi Mari…
Takahashi: …Takahashi Ai and…
Kamei: Kamei Eri!
Yaguchi: Let’s meet again tomorrow!

Kindai - MM 2 Kindai - MM

- Morning Musume’s 37th single is “Pepper Keibu”.
Takahashi Ai: It’s a cover of the debut song of the band Pink Lady that everyone knows. I think it’s a great honor to be able to cover a song which is so famous that you can dance and sing it even though you weren’t even born at the time it was released. Even though it’s a cover, we want to keep on loving it as much as our own songs.
Kusumi Koharu: The two Pink Lady members are idols who made history. Covering a song of such a band is something amazing, so we’ll try to sing it as well as possible in order to meet the expectations.
Niigaki Risa: Without breaking the image of Pink Lady’s “Pepper Keibu”, we perform “Pepper Keibu” in a fresh and cheerful way that’s typical for Morning Musume. We hope you’ll enjoy the mix of nostalgy and freshness.
- What’s the connection between Morning Musume and Pink Lady?
Takahashi: We once performed together on “Music Fair”. We got to sing “Nagisa no Sindbad”, “UFO” and other songs together and they danced together with us in “The Peace”.
Kamei Eri: When I think about it now, it was like a dream…
Takahashi: That’s why, I think it was fate. Arbitrarily. (lol)
- What are the characteristics of Morning Musume’s “Pepper Keibu”?
Michishige Sayumi: There’s no interlude in the original, but there’s one in Morning Musume’s version and it’s quite intense.
Tanaka Reina: When I was thinking that since it’s a cover, the dance will be probably the same and we won’t dance much, a Morning Musume part was added there.
Mitsui Aika: It caught us off guard. (lol)
Junjun: It’s very powerful and Morning Musume-like.
Linlin: The costumes are different too. Pink Lady had pink, we have green ones. So we’re “Green Girls”. (lol)
- The b-side “Romance” is a cover of Iwasaki Hiromi-san’s song.
Kamei: I love that song. My mom often sings it, so I had heard it many times already. But when I listened to Iwasaki-san’s original, I noticed that my mom was singing it totally wrong. (lol)
Mitsui: I think the lyrics are good e.g. ♪Iki ga kakaru hodo soba ni itte hoshii♪. They’re cute and sexy at the same time.
- “Pink Lady” makes you think of the Shouwa era. Since Shouwa = nostalgic, what kind of things made you feel nostalgic lately?
Takahashi: Since I’m from Fukui prefecture, I feel nostalgic when I meet other people from Fukui. I get happy talking about the town I’m from and get into a nostalgic mood.
Niigaki: The other day I went to a festival with Papa and Mama after a long while. When I heard the shouts of the old men during the Bon Festival dance, I felt very nostalgic.
Mitsui: When I was tidying up my room the other day, I found a lot of photos and presents from the time when I lived in Shiga. When I opened my datebook, there were many names of my friends written in it. It was very nostalgic.
Junjun: I watched an old DVD the other day. The DVD contained the first dance that was filmed of Linlin, Mitsui and me. Our dance was very bad and our faces were swollen too. We looked like dancing meat buns. (lol) I really think we’ve grown since then.
Linlin: I feel nostalgic when I eat Chinese meat buns. It makes me think of how I used to eat them for breakfast everyday in China.
Kamei: I used to have ballet lessons and I had the habit of always drinking a certain carbonated drink after them. But since I quit ballet, I haven’t been able to find that drink anywhere else, but they were selling it in the vending machine of this studio! The bottle was changed into aluminium, but it still had that extremely nostalgic taste. It made me remember my way home from ballet when I was in elementary school.
Michishige: I love eating pikes. But since summer is not the season for them, pikes cost a lot, right? They’ve become cheap only recently when autumn arrived and I could finally eat pikes. When I eat them I think “This taste is the best after all~” and remember the previous year. (lol)
Kusumi: As for me, I often feel nostalgic. It’s like everything in the past feels nostalgic to me. (lol)
Tanaka: I host a radio show (InterFM “FIVE STARS”) where I get to choose which songs to play. Lately I’ve been playing many nostalgic songs and while listening to them, I remember the time when I used to listen to that song. Memories get wrapped up in songs, right? It made me think that music is a good thing.
- “Morning Musume” makes you think of the Heisei era. Since Heisei = new, what kind of things made you feel that way lately?
Takahashi: Since recently, we can make banana juice at home. I thought that you can easily make it yourself if you have a mixer and it was another new discovery for me.
Kamei: I’ve always thought that I can’t eat macaron. An aversion without even trying. But when I did try it recently, I could eat it. A new discovery for me.
Tanaka: There are cards called Micro SD, right? I used to think that you read it like “Maikuro”, but a friend told me that you read it like “Mikuro” and I thought that it’s “Mikuro” all the time. But then I heard someone say it like “Maikuro SD card” and said “That’s Mikuro, you know?”, but I was totally wrong. (lol) Another thing I learned is that you say “Oh no! Fukitsu na yokan!” instead of “fuketsu na yokan“. (lol)
Kamei: And you even asked me “Eri, do you know this saying?” so full of confidence, that we all fell down when you said it wrong. (lol) We were shocked.
Linlin: I learned a new Japanese word. “zekku“. I want to use it a lot.
Mitsui: I’ll be raising a dog on my own. It’s a toy poodle and I chose it myself, signed the pet contract myself and bought a pet insurance myself. I did all that for the first time.
Michishige: I keep a diary everyday and recently started my 7th one.
Everyone: Amazing!
Michishige: It doesn’t get old writing in it at all. Everyday is fun.
Junjun: I’ve noticed that time seems to pass very quickly lately. When “Cinderella the musical” ended in August, I couldn’t believe how quickly the 3 weeks had passed. During the filming of the promotion video, I was surprised because it was evening before I even noticed it. The Beijing Olympic Games too, when I thought of watching it, it was already over. (lol)
Kusumi: I recently noticed that I’ve become taller again. Now I’m about 164cm tall. My goal is to reach 172cm, so I hope I’ll grow even more.
Niigaki: In “Cinderella the musical” I got to play the role of a gentleman-like prince for the first time and I had to wear 15cm high boots for that. The view from 15cm higher than usual was new for me. I normally have to look up to most members, but when we formed a ring during the musical, I was happy because I was sticking out. (lol) Since I’ve always wanted to become taller, it was like one of my dreams came true.

From a Takarazuka Musume to a Morning Musume

Takahashi Ai - She took the audition because of her competitive spirit rather than her dream

In the nationwide popular group Morning Musume, Takahashi Ai (17) is already one of the members who have top class popularity. This summer will be her third summer since joining Morning Musume. She originally wished to become a different kind of Musume, a Musumeyaku i.e. an actress who plays female roles in Takarazuka. The classic ballet lessons she had since the age of 8 endowed her with a flexible body and an honest, pure heart.

[Her dialect has disappeared!?]

It’s been 3 years since she moved to Tokyo. I’m very surprised when she tells me that she has already lost her Fukui dialect which used to be one of her charmpoints(?). “It just happened naturally when I kept talking to people in Tokyo. When I’m talking with my friends in Fukui on the phone I tell them that ‘Ahh, I’m already speaking standard Japanese, ya know? But the people here in Tokyo understand what I’m saying if I talk like this too. Though some still say I haven’t lost my dialect yet.’.”
Wearing casual jeans and a black cardigan on top, she shows me her specialty, classic ballet moves, while facing the mirror. It’s beautiful to watch and you get the impression that she looks more mature like this.
When I tell her that she looks pretty, she says “No! I’m not. I’m definitely not. No one has ever told me that I’m pretty!” with a bright red face. She seems so embarrassed that she hides her face with both hands, so I ask her “Someone at school probably told you the same thing and confessed his love to you, right?”. She becomes angry and denies many times saying “Ain’t nobody telling me that. Ain’t nobody telling me that!”. When she realizes that she spoke with her dialect in agitation, she corrects herself saying “Ah! Nobody tells me that!” one more time. Very lovely.
“Once there was a letter in my shoe box at school… But, but, I thought it was a downright lie. It’s true!” she says, trying very hard to explain to me what she means while blushing. She has an honest character and a very expressive face.

[But she loves Fukui]

Then I bring up Sauce Katsudon, the specialty of Fukui and tell her my impression that “It wasn’t very delicious…”. She brusquely counters with “That’s only because you went to a bad place!”. She’s surprisingly strong-willed.
This girl, Takahashi, has been dreaming of becoming a Musumeyaku of the Takarazuka Revue since she was in elementary school. “If I didn’t have this dream, I think I wouldn’t have continued ballet and wouldn’t be able to do my best now either.” she says.

Relieving stress with Takarazuka

Her best method of relieving stress is as expected… “Takarazuka”. “I buy their videos and I still go watch their plays. I don’t mind watching while standing either. Then it costs 1500 yen. I collect the cards too. Even if something bad happens, Takarazuka blows my gloominess away and I feel like I can do my best again.”.

The type of man she likes: the exact opposite of her father

Talking about the type of man she likes: “I’d like someone who does the talking. Even though I’m an idol, I usually don’t talk much.”. She respects her father, but someone like him couldn’t be her lover. “I wouldn’t like someone like dad who always goes to pachinko parlors on off-days. I feel like ‘Why do you even try if you already know you’ll only lose?’.”

[Her father was against it]

She took up classic ballet when she was in third year of elementary school. After that she got interested in Takarazuka and started watching their TV shows. “Mom and I both became fans of Takarazuka. The first troupe I watched was the Flower Troupe. I still remember it.”.
Her first favorite Takarazienne was Takahashi Fubuki who was a top star of the Snow Troupe at that time. “I put up posters of her in my room. When friends came over, they said “Ehhh! Scary!” though.”.
Because of her lack in height, her goal was to become a “Musumeyaku” and she would continue practicing ballet even if a toenail came off. In middle school she joined the chorus club. She even took part in a national tournament. The reason she took the Morning Musume audition wasn’t because it was her “dream”, but rather because… “I was watching it on TV and got envious of the people who passed it. I didn’t take the audition to become an idol, I rather took it because I wanted to pass it. I thought I can’t lose to them.”.
Her father(38) was against her joining Morning Musume. He asked her “You wanted to join Takarazuka, didn’t you? Is it ok to give that up?”. Hearing that from her reticent father was “tough” she says.
“Now dad puts up posters of me and copies sites on a computer he never used before. But it seems like he doesn’t want me to think that he’s accepted it, so all he does is telling me to do my best from time to time. He’s reticent as usual.”.
The person she respects is her father. “He works in an express home delivery company. Even if he gets home very late, he still puts his all into his job. I know it’s only natural. I know that, but that’s what I like about him. Earlier, I often went to wave hands at my dad when his truck passed by the station.”.

[In the new song, she’s already…]

Once her goal was to become a “Musumeyaku”, but now she’s doing her best as a Morning Musume. The dream of this pure hearted girl now is to become an adult. “When I’m feeling down or when I’m worn out, Abe (Natsumi)-san or Gotou (Maki)-san would talk to me or write me a letter to cheer me up. I want to become someone who can listen to others and has an own opinion about everything.”.
In the cover of the new song “Joshi Kashimashi”, she’s boldly sitting in the center. This girl will soon reach her “Musumezakari“.
